The City of Newark is getting a new Civic Center which will be home to a new City Hall, Library, and Police Building.  Although construction is currently underway, we will remain open for business.  Limited visitor parking will be available along Civic Terrace Avenue.  Please plan accordingly. 


Newark Police Department

There are two divisions within the police department: Field Operations and Support Services. Overall supervision of each division is the responsibility of a Commander. The Support Services Division is responsible for areas such as Records, Communications, Detectives, Property and Evidence, Internal Affairs, Personnel and Training, Community Engagement, the Volunteer Program, and the Red Light Photo enforcement Program. Field Operations includes Patrol, K9, Traffic, Animal Control, Vehicle Abatement, School Resource Officers, Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force, Detectives, Honor Guard, SWAT, and Crisis Negotiation.
