Animal Control :: Animal Fanciers Form & Dog License InfoEvery person within the City of Newark owning, possessing, controlling, harboring, or keeping any dog over four months of age must have a current Newark dog license for each dog. A dog license may be obtained by presenting a valid anti-rabies vaccination certificate and paying the required fees from the License/Cashier Counter, First Floor, City Administration Building, 37101 Newark Blvd., Newark. Dog License applications may also be obtained from veterinarians located in the City of Newark. For further information, contact the Cashier: 510-578-4310 or finance@newark.org. Newark dog licenses may be issued for 1-, 2-, or 3-year terms depending upon the expiration date of the dog's anti-rabies certificate. The amount of the fees is not only dependent upon the term, but whether or not the dog is neutered or spayed. A 50% discount is granted for holders of the Newark Gold Card. Renewal notices for expiring dog licenses are mailed and processed each calendar quarter. If you have more than two of the same animal, or a total of five animals, you are required to get a Animal Fancier's Permit. For questions regarding dog licenses, please call the Finance Department at 510-578-4310.
