Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires that cities, counties, and special districts have a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan to be eligible to receive hazard mitigation grants and to have the 6.25 percent local match waived for Public Assistance money after a disaster. A Local Hazard Mitigation Plan is a document that identifies natural hazards that impact the City, identifies actions and activities to reduce any losses from those hazards, and establishes a coordinated process to implement the plan. The City of Newark has, in concert with the Association of Bay Area Governments, developed a plan. A draft copy of that plan can be viewed by licking on the link below. If you would like to offer comments on the plan please e-mail your comments to Ray Collier, Chief Building Official/City Architect, at ray.collier@newark.org.
