Volunteer Positions

Volunteers are a vital part of our City staff team. Whether at our Senior Center, Police Department, or other City facilities, volunteers assist City employees with a variety of challenging and important tasks. The City of Newark accepts volunteer applications on current openings only; see our current list of positions below.

Reserve Police Officer - This volunteer position involves responsibility for assisting regular police officers in their duties and providing supplemental police protection service for citizens, corporations, or organizations, as assigned. The duties involve the protection of life and property, prevention and investigation of crimes, apprehension of criminals, and the enforcement of laws and ordinances.  Application & Applicant Statement
